Insurance Questions

Do you take my insurance?

Please click on Insurance on the left to see which insurance we take.

What is a copay?

A copay is a dollar amount that your insurance company requires you to pay whenever you come to our office for an appointment. The amount is usually located somewhere on your insurance card.

What is a deductible?

A deductible is the amount that your insurance company requires you to pay before they start paying for your healthcare. For example, if your insurance company requires a $500 deductible, you will have to pay for your visits until your payments reach $500. Then, your insurance will start to pay their portion (usually 80-100% depending on your insurance).

Your insurance may have different deductibles for procedures, immunizations and prescriptions. Questions on deductibles should be directed to your insurance company.

What insurance do you recommend?

We do not have a preference. We advise you to do your homework and choose your insurance based on your needs. Carefully read the benefits that each company provides. Contact your employer's Human Resources department or the insurance company itself for answers to your questions.

Does my insurance cover me for a physical/procedure/immunization?

We don't know! There are hundreds of insurance companies, many of which have dozens of plans to choose from. Each plan has different limitations. The best way for you to find out if you are covered is to check your benefits manual or call your insurance company.

That said, there is one procedure that we pre-certify with your insurance company before your appointment due to the cost. This is the DIMPS test or nuclear stress test procedure. We will check with your insurance company regarding benefits for this test and will notify you if it is not covered.

Why didn't insurance cover my physical?

Some insurance policies do not cover preventative care. Others may cover a certain dollar amount a year for preventative services. It is important that you check with your insurance company or view your benefits manual to see what services your policy provides.

Do you need to know when my insurance changes?

Yes. Please call our office with your new insurance information as soon as possible. We will also check your card each time you come in.
