Michele Volansky grew up in Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh for her Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology and Women's Health. While there, she worked as a research assistant on various clinical trials in women's health for the National Cancer Institute (NCI). After graduating, she moved to Atlanta to work as a research associate on various health-related research projects for the CDC, NCA and the office of nutrition at the Georgia State Department of Human Resources. She has produced several publications with colleagues at the CDC, including articles on interventions for diabetes prevention, folic acid and the prevention of birth defects and hemochromatosis.
She completed her training as a physician assistant at Emory University and while there, had the privilege of living in various cities across Georgia while doing clinical rotations. This includes Savannah, Moultrie, and Rome. She maintains a strong interest in health promotion and disease prevention. She currently lives in Decatur, Georgia.
